The whole newsroom runs on one shared keyboard. Each day's headline word arrives split down the column gutter: player 1 types the left half, player 2 the right half, alternating keys at one press. Mistype and ink smears across the whole press and the deadline clock loses three seconds for everyone. Twelve words must clear the page before DEADLINE — then the EXTRA! EXTRA! PUBLISH card swings down. It's set as newsprint: two paper columns, typewriter mono, a big red deadline clock, and a roller that spins faster with every story you land.
How to play
Press Space or Enter (or click/tap the paper) to set the page and start the run.
A headline word appears split down the middle. P1 types the LEFT half's next letter; P2 types the RIGHT half's next letter — one shared keyboard, keys land strictly in turn order. A letter both halves need at once advances both.
Any letter nobody currently needs is a mistype: an ink smear hits the paper, the streak resets, and the deadline clock loses 3 seconds.
Each published word adds 2 seconds and scores 100 per letter plus 25 per word of streak; finishing all 12 words before the 85-second deadline publishes the paper and banks 100 per remaining second.
On phones the paper grows a letter pad so both players can tap halves on the same device; the HOLD button pauses (Esc pauses on desktop, P/Esc/Enter resumes).
