Desktop Plague

The game

Release the patience virus across a fake retro desktop and watch it spread. Every window you infect slows Dr. SOFT AV's scanner — but apps pop up faster and faster, the antivirus quarantines your hosts, and eventual "system updates" restore whole rows of windows. Dithered teal wallpaper, grey bevelled titlebars, dialog-box error mobs and a pixel progress bar: pure 90s OS chaos in one click mechanic. Infect every window before the scan hits 100%.

How to play

• Press ENTER or tap anywhere to start — one window is already Patient Zero.
• Click an infected window (green, ☠ in the titlebar) to spread the virus to up to 2 nearby clean windows inside the dashed range ring.
• Spreading burns VIRUS LOAD and the COST rises every jump; a far jump outside your range costs double.
• If the AV QUARANTINES one of your windows (red, ACCESS DENIED), click it 3 times to break out — free, and it stays infected.
• Each infected window slows the bottom scanner bar; if it reaches 100% the system is purged and you lose.
• Win by infecting every window on the desktop (8+) before the scan completes. P or ESC pauses.
